Job Description
Support mechanical fabrication, assembly and instrumentation of leg, foot/anchoring and fin prototypes for a hybrid swim-crawl underwater system. Tasks include workshop fabrication (CNC/3D printing/composites), wiring and sensor integration (encoders, load cells, pressure sensors), bench and tank test execution and data logging, sediment/anchor material testing, maintenance of test rigs and inventories, drafting test procedures and safety checklists, and supporting integration with swim module. Assist with basic control scripts and ROS node operation; produce test reports and datasets.
Qualifications
Essential:
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Naval Architecture or related discipline.
o Practical workshop skills (machining, 3D printing, composites) and basic electronics/sensor wiring experience.
o Experience in lab testing and data acquisition; ability to follow test procedures and document results.
o Good teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable:
o Familiarity with ROS, Python, MATLAB for data analysis.
o Prior exposure to underwater robotics or marine sediment testing.
