Job Description

The project seeks to understand the important actors and their projects in Asia that develop civic technology (citizen science, DIY sensors, data visualization etc.) to monitor the environment under the threat of climate change. Geographically, the project is interested in identifying civic technology projects in Asia, starting with Southeast Asia and expanding towards East and South Asian cities. With the project, we aim to list up the actors, the projects, and the tools that they have developed with community, for the community.

 

For the duration of the position, the researcher is expected to the following tasks: 

  1. Literature review
  2. Conduct case studies and populate a database
  3. Organize a workshop hosted at NUS
  4. Assist in journal article manuscript writing
  5. Write grant proposals

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable evidence of capacity to carry out independent research in a related field; 
  • Strong interest in urban studies, urban planning, and/or civic technology;
  • Experiences in conducting research in the South East Asian context;
  • Excellent spoken and written English; 
  • Ability to effectively work in and help coordinate a team; 
  • Ability to conduct literature review and case study analysis;
  • A Bachelor’s or equivalent in a discipline within architecture, urban studies, or social sciences or humanities;
