Job Description

Research Associate position in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS). With a strong focus on industrial projects, we are developing our exciting technologies beyond the lab scale. We are seeking a talented and experienced individual with a background in chemical engineering and electrochemistry to join us. 

As a Research Associate, you will contribute to our industry projects focusing on scaling up our battery recycling technologies from lab to pilot scale. 

• Testing and optimization of small scale and pilot scale systems including troubleshooting of process.
• Engineering design, Mass & Energy balance calculations, Equipment selection and flowsheet development for scale up systems.
• Liaising with suppliers and contractors for procuring and setting up scale up systems. 

Qualifications

1. Bachelor or Masters in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials science and engineering, Chemistry or other relevant fields.
2. 3-5 yrs’ experience in leaching, precipitation, crystallization, and electrochemical process is preferred. Above 5 yrs experience will be considered for a senior role to lead pilot scale operations. 
3. Prior industrial experience in Lithium, Nickel refining process development and piloting new technologies is highly preferred. 
4. Good knowledge of process safety (HAZOP, PHA). 
5. Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis and interpretation.
6. Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
