About ENgAGE: The Centre for Environment and Ageing Well (ENgAGE) is committed to advancing knowledge and practices to enhance environments that foster the physical, psychological, and social well-being of individuals across all age groups. The centre aims to coordinate and consolidate aging-related research, education, and resources within the NUS community, orchestrate capacity-building initiatives, and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders with a shared interest in meaningful enhancements to living environments for all.
Project Background: To provide a platform and framework for stakeholders in the eco-system supporting ageing well communities to collaboratively develop, iteratively learn effective approaches to integrated models for communities to age well in Singapore and beyond. The project incorporates both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies and brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts in architecture, urban design and planning, social sciences, public health, medicine, transportation, technology, and urban economics.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to support the CS-HTS project. The Research Associate will work closely with Co-Principal Investigators, Research Fellows, and project collaborators.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in data collection from the targeted communities through survey design, interview, focus group discussion in selected gathering places and may involve collaboration with government agencies, AACs, grassroots organizations.
- Gather feedback on physical spaces, programs and operational activities that benefit the older communities, by visiting sites and interacting or interviewing with users, residents or operators of the space directly.
- Put up ethics review application and gain approval from NUS-IRB
- Conduct systematic literature reviews.
- Conduct qualitative data analysis
- Create and manage platform (online) to publish documented findings and enable stakeholders in the eco-system to provide feedback and potentially with direct update capability.
- Draft reports and research papers.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Public Health, Urban Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with relevant research work, preferably with systematic literature reviews, surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions
- Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and academic papers.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary research teams
- Experience in architecture drawing and GIS mapping
- Initiative-taking, independent, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
