Job Description
The Research Staff will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to operate, manage, and maintain NUS Invizo 6000 APT facility.
The job scope and key responsibility of this position is:
• Operate the Invizo 6000 APT system to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient instrument performance.
• Manage day-to-day facility operations, including user scheduling, booking, and laboratory access.
• Perform routine maintenance, instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the vendor.
• Prepare and characterize specimens for APT analysis, including FIB specimen preparation where applicable.
• Provide technical support and training to students, researchers, and external users on APT operation, specimen preparation, and data acquisition.
• Process, reconstruct, and analyze APT datasets using appropriate software, and assist users in data interpretation.
• Develop and optimize experimental protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices for APT experiments.
• Maintain laboratory safety, documentation, equipment records, consumables, and inventory.
• Support collaborative research projects involving APT and complementary characterization techniques.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, research publications, grant proposals, and facility performance reports.
• Promote facility utilization through user engagement, workshops, and outreach activities.
• Perform other research and facility-related duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and laboratory management skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting multidisciplinary research projects
• Experience in atom probe tomography, focused ion beam (FIB), electron microscopy, or other advanced materials characterization techniques will be advantageous
