Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Research Engineer to support the hardware development and field deployment of a modular construction robot. You will be the crucial link between lab-based prototypes and real-world construction sites, ensuring our robotic systems are robust, reliable, and rigorously tested.

Key Responsibilities:

•             Assist in the mechanical assembly, wiring, and hardware troubleshooting of mobile bases, manipulators, and customized end-effectors.

•             Conduct sensor calibration (LiDAR, RGB-D cameras) and maintain the hardware health of the robot fleet.

•             Support the execution of laboratory and on-site field trials, including logistical preparation and safety compliance.

•             Collect, log, and analyze hardware performance and productivity measurement data during field tests.

•             Design and fabricate mounting brackets and testing rigs using CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and 3D printing/machining.

Qualifications

•             Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

•             Strong hands-on prototyping skills and experience building electro-mechanical systems.

•             Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, basic ROS/ROS2 commands, and hardware-level communication protocols (CAN, RS232).

•             Willingness to conduct field experiments in dynamic, real-world construction environments.

•             Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
