Job Description

We are seeking a Research Engineer to specialise in the development of multimodal virtual reality systems for immersive heritage studies. This project aims to harness cutting-edge digital technologies, including virtual reality, multimodal interfaces, and wearable devices, contributing to Singapore’s tangible and intangible heritage through interdisciplinary research.
 
The key responsibilities: 
• Conduct independent and collaborative research projects focused on utilising VR/AR and multimodal technologies. 
• Collect multimodal data, which includes 3D environments, audio information, and human sensory data for heritage sites.
• Create VR scenes and interactions based on collected multimodal database.
• Build software (e.g., Unity) and hardware (e.g., Micro-controller) for multimodal VR interaction with friendly user experiences.
• Design and conduct user testing for multimodal VR applications.
• Contribute to the academic and scientific community through publications and presentations.
• Mentoring and Teaching: Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate students involved in multimodal VR projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Digital Media Technology, or related fields, with a focus on VR/AR, IoT, or Human-Computer Interaction.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in C++/C# and Unity.
• Hands-on experience with VR/AR software platforms and hardware systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to developing innovative solutions and aiming for high-quality publications (e.g., IEEE VR, TVCG, etc).
• A deep passion for exploring heritage studies through cutting-edge technologies.
