Research Fellow (AI and Crop Modelling)

Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking to recruit a Research Fellow to develop AI-based models to forecast rice production over Southeast Asia and to support in any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

Qualifications

•    Possess a recognised PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, environmental sciences, climate science, geography, or other related disciplines.
•    Preferably with relevant research/industry experience in some of the following areas such as civil engineering, climate science, hydrological and water resources management, AI, GIS, geography, etc. 
•    Prior experience/knowledge of the following models, software/programming languages will be preferred:
-Extreme value analysis
-Land surface modeling and/or remote sensing; Water resources management; Crop modeling 
-Data analysis tools such as MATLAB
-Programming languages such as python, C++ and/or FORTRAN
-High-performance computing.

•    Other Requirements:
Strong written and spoken communication skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to adapt and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
•    Resourcefulness and self-motivation, coupled with a strong sense of professional integrity.
•    Open to fixed-term contract
