The National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for one (1) Research Fellow position in the area of asphalt materials with focus on sustainable pavement materials and circular economy. The candidate is expected to work in research projects related to the topic funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore and Land Transport Authority of Singapore and other relevant agencies. The candidate will be working with Associate Professor Ong Ghim Ping Raymond from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Design and Engineering (CDE)(https://cde.nus.edu.sg/cee/staff/ong-ghim-ping-raymond/) in fundamental and translational research in the development of new asphalt pavement design guidelines.
 

The selected individual is required to:

•    Develop sustainable asphalt mixtures guidelines with circular economy and carbon life cycle in mind.
•    Perform laboratory and field experiments on asphalt pavements within sustainability and durability as core focus (including modification of mechanistic empirical pavement design and balanced mix design to suit local context).
•    Develop state of the art solutions for high performance pavement system and work closely with contractors and agencies on field construction implementation to ensure solution is commercially viable.
•    Manage research project progress, grant administration, and finance.
•    Work on other relevant tasks set out by the project PI. 

Job Requirements

 

•    Applicants should have a PhD in civil engineering or a related area. 
•    Applicants with relevant experience in both experimental and field asphalt materials development, design and construction would be favourably considered. 
•    Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present research findings in publications and meetings professionally (including with agencies and the industry).
•    Open to fixed-term contract.
•    Candidates without experience are welcome to apply.
