Date: 18 Apr 2024

Location: COLLEGE OF DESIGN & ENG, Kent Ridge Campus, SG

Company: National University of Singapore

Job Description

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore is currently seeking 1-2 skilled Research Fellows to join Prof. Sibudjing Kawi's dynamic team. Ideal candidates will have a robust background in plasma catalysis, particularly in projects related to methane coupling. This role involves not only exploring and identifying optimal catalysts and conditions for plasma-catalytic methane conversion into valuable olefins but also designing innovative methodologies to detect reaction intermediates and products, such as optimal emission spectroscopy and plasma-DRIFTS. The candidate is expected to help unravel reaction mechanisms to improve product distribution, selectivity, and yields.

As part of this prestigious position, Research Fellows will play a vital role in mentoring young students and visiting scholars. They will also contribute significantly to the growth of new research projects, aid in establishing collaborations and play a key role in knowledge sharing within the NUS community.

Job Requirements

•    PhD in chemistry/chemical engineering/material science/physics in the area of plasma catalysis.
•    Experience with thermal, photo-catalysis and inorganic membranes, will be considered as a bonus, favorably.
•    The candidate with proven experience in TEM, SEM, XRD, BET, XPS, in-situ XAS, FTIR, in-situ Raman, UV-vis, and catalyst characterization/performance techniques TPD/R/O, TSPR, BET, running of catalytic reactions will be highly considered.
•    The ideal candidate should excel in both independent work and collaborative team environments. A strong sense of self-motivation and a commitment to maintaining an exceptional work ethic are fundamental for success in this role.
