Job Description
We are looking for a capable and motivated candidate to join our research group on integrated photonics. The project aims to develop integrated tunable lasers for quantum sensing applications. The work will combine semiconductor gain chips with low-loss photonic circuits, including thin-film lithium niobate and silicon nitride, to realize narrow-linewidth, tunable and frequency-stabilized laser sources. The candidate will also have the freedom to explore related topics such as nonlinear frequency conversion and electro-optic frequency control.
This position will be in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Successful candidates will be involved in, but not limited to, the following activities:
• Design, fabrication and assembly of integrated laser devices
• Optical and electrical characterization of device performance, including linewidth, tuning and frequency stability
• Assisting in mentoring graduate students in the research group
Qualifications
• Ph.D. degree (completed or soon to be completed) in Physics, Applied Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant areas
• Knowledge in integrated photonics
• Experience in nano/micro-fabrication or photonic packaging is highly desired
• Programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab)
• Ability to work as a team and communicate effectively
