Job Description
The Singapore Hybrid Integrated Next-Generation µ-Electronics (SHINE) research centre in National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking for applicants for a Research Fellow position to assist in the photonic aspects of ‘Hybrid Process Integration’.
The successful candidate will focus on developing and optimizing waveguide couplers for photonic integrated circuits. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of semiconductor technology and collaborate with industry partners and academic researchers.
Responsibilities will involve:
1. Research & Development:
- Direct the design, simulate, and characterization of waveguide couplers.
- Conduct literature review, lead and innovate in relevant areas of photonics and optics.
- Develop simulation models and experimental setups to test and optimize system performance.
- Basic fabrication experience in cleanroom
2. Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Good in data analysis and presentation
- Prepare high-quality reports, publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at international conferences and workshops.
3. Project Management & Collaboration:
- Contribute to project planning, timelines, and milestones.
- Mentor junior researchers and assist in training undergraduate or graduate students working in the lab.
- Liaise with industry partners and funding agencies to advance collaborative research initiatives.
4. Innovation & Intellectual Property:
- Identify opportunities for innovation and contribute to the development of intellectual property through patents and technology transfer.

Qualifications
• PhD degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Material Science or its equivalent from a reputable University/Institute is preferred, or equivalent related experience.
• Experienced in photonics simulation such as Ansys and Zemax is prefered.
• Experienced in data processing software such as OriginLabs, MATLAB, and basic scripting.
• Candidate familiar with microelectronics, characterisation and strong in data analysis.
• Ability to work independently, communicate and collaborate within a diverse team.
• Open to fixed term contract.
