Job Description

This job aims to address some significant issues about realizing large-area (up to meter scale), high-precision (single-pixel resolution), and customized (digitally-controlled) structure-color nanoprinting. The main targets are threefold:

 

1. Thoroughly understand the interactions between light and matters, uncover novel photonic structures to manipulate light, and explore new effects, remarkable phenomena, unique features and high-performance structure-color applications. Research directions include selective optical transmission, specific light enhancement, and cross-scale light modulation.

 

2. Study the color-generation mechanisms from the point of view of nanophotonics and material science. The research results should efficiently provide a comprehensive and novel perspective for understanding the coloration phenomena and underlying the interactions between light and photonic structures at different scales, and be expected to provide effect guidance for high-resolution, durable, and versatile structure-color nanoprinting, thus advancing the structural color towards widespread use. 

 

3. Explore appropriate schemes to demonstrate the vibrant and high-resolution structure-color images, to investigate the paradigm from initial digital design to the final printing results, and expand the general laws of structural color from theoretical simulation to practical application, etc. At last, one or two scenarios should be experimentally demonstrated.
Considering the above research targets, the candidate should possess in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of micro- and nano optics, materials science, physical insights, and topological photonics, digital imaging graphics, nanoprocessing technology, etc. Sufficient experience in the design, fabrication, measurement, and characterization of structure-color nanoprinting is preferred.

Qualifications

1. PhD Degree in photonic crystals and structured colors, or relevant area with a strong background in micro/nano optics and structure color. 

2. Working experience in the field of micro- and nanofabrication, additive manufacturing, photonic crystals, optical sensing and detection. 

3. Mathematics and specific knowledge required in geometric optics, interference theory, photonic bandgap, self-assembly, and topography control. 

4. Technical proficiency: 1) theoretical and numerical modeling of photonic crystals with varying morphology and other physical systems with appropriate software; 2) Nanoprocessing experience such as the synthesis of monodisperse colloidal particles, the assembly of well-arranged crystals, photolithography and 3d printing, etc. 3) spectra measurement involving the transmission spectra, electric field, phase distributions and state density in various optical microstructures. 

5. Candidate should have representative publication records in reputed International Journals in the field of structure color, self-assembly, and the related applications. 
6. Candidate with work experience is highly preferred. 

7. Open to Fixed Term Contract.
