The Singapore Hybrid Integrated Next-Generation µ-Electronics (SHINE) research centre in National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking for applicants for a Research Fellow position to assist in ‘Hybrid Process Integration’. The successful candidate will focus on developing and optimizing active thermal management systems utilizing thermoelectric devices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of semiconductor technology and collaborate with industry partners and academic researchers.

Responsibilities will involve:

  1. Research & Development:
    1. Design, develop, and experimentally validate active thermal management systems employing thermoelectric devices.
    2. Investigate novel thermoelectric materials and device configurations to enhance performance metrics such as efficiency, cooling capacity, and reliability.
  2. System Integration:
    1. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate thermoelectric modules into larger systems for real-world applications.
    2. Develop simulation models and experimental setups to test and optimize system performance.
  3. Data Analysis & Reporting:
    1. Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using advanced statistical and computational tools.
    2. Prepare high-quality reports, publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at international conferences and workshops.
  4. Project Management & Collaboration:
    1. Contribute to project planning, timelines, and milestones.
    2. Mentor junior researchers and assist in training undergraduate or graduate students working in the lab.
    3. Liaise with industry partners and funding agencies to advance collaborative research initiatives.
  5. Innovation & Intellectual Property:
    1. Identify opportunities for innovation and contribute to the development of intellectual property through patents and technology transfer.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Material Science or its equivalent from a reputable University/Institute is preferred, or equivalent related experience. 
  • Candidate with experience in microelectronic research, characterisation, metrology, electrical testing, and strong in data analysis will have an advantage. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using statistical tools and software packages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated and possesses effective communication skills including writing and presenting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a diverse team.
  • Open to fixed term contract.
