Research Fellow (Urban Climate Modelling)

Date: 14 Nov 2024

Location: COLLEGE OF DESIGN & ENG, Kent Ridge Campus, SG

Company: National University of Singapore

Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for one Research Fellow position in Urban Climate Modelling to begin as soon as possible.

The project  “Enhancements of Singapore’s convective rainfall prediction” will make use of meteorological models in combination with multivariate observations of rainfall to provide a high spatial and temporal resolution rainfall reanalysis product for Singapore and to study how climate change affects mesoscale convective rainfall processes, their statistical properties, and underlying physics. This will be done using physically based convection-permitting models and stochastic weather generators.

The selected candidate will be responsible for completing the scientific tasks related to urban climate modeling in the project, leading and contributing to publications, and is expected to work closely with the other postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. students who will be hired in the project. Besides contributing to the research activities of the project, the successful applicant is expected to support in a broader sense the research of the Ecohydrology and Hydrometeorology group at NUS, thereby providing occasional support to graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.).
