Job Purpose

The NUS School of Computing (SoC) traces its roots back to the Nanyang University Department of Computer Science that was established in 1975. Since then, SOC has developed into one of the leading computing schools in the world, with faculty members who are both internationally recognised researchers and inspiring teachers.

 

Today, SoC offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes across the full spectrum of the field of computing, including Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Business Analytics and Information Security, as well as specialisations in emerging areas of importance such as artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain, analytics and security.

 

SoC Advanced Computing for Executives (ACE) unit was established to help business leaders, managers and professionals learn about emerging technology and how to harness them for digital transformation and business competitiveness. ACE drives the expansion of SoC’s lifelong learning offerings in a concerted and strategic way and aims to be the premier educator and thought leader in advanced computing and information technology.

 

To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join ACE unit. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Industry Partnership and Programme Development, the incumbent shall implement and develop commercial and strategic relationships with government agencies, organisations and trade associations in accordance with ACE's overarching objective, strategic goals and strategies. The incumbent is expected to create a systematic, process-driven approach in the areas of partnership management, sales outreach, business and programme development. The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade, based on the individual merits of the candidate.

Job Description

  • Proactively identify opportunities and provide market insights for growth. 
  • Generate sales revenue to achieve ACE’s growth target. 
  • Identify and source partnership opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails and client visits. 
  • Recommend new training programmes and applications for emerging developments in respective market segments. 
  • Work with internal personnel and trainers / curriculum developers in structuring and implementing training proposals. 
  • Build strong relationships internally at SoC and NUS as well as externally with strategic partners, government agencies and clients at various levels to develop training programmes, facilitate integration and drive results. 
  • Screen potential partnership deals by analysing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; and resolving internal priorities. 
  • Manage strategic and operational customer and partner relationship activities involving key customers, government agencies as well as SoC faculty members. 
  • Drive continuous business development and sales efforts with customer and partners to facilitate training opportunities through ACE courses. 
  • Conduct business negotiations with key customers and partners. 
  • Form strategic alliances with other organisations to leverage their existing networks. 
  • Work with the marketing team to devise marketing materials and tools to support promotion of training programmes. 
  • Grow a strong network of key customers domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor Degree in any discipline, preferably in a business or ICT-related field. 
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in industry partnership, sales, business and programme development. 
  • Experienced in project management, preferably for CET programmes targeted at organisations and working/adult learners. 
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decisions and drive results through internal and external partnerships. 
  • Strong positive/can-do attitude and comfort interacting with all levels of an organisation. 
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and adjust quickly to shifting priorities and ambiguity. 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Networking aptitude. 
  • Great multitasking skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • Personal integrity with an honest and open personal style.

  • The successful incumbent will be offered an initial 3 years' contract, subject to renewal
