Job Purpose
National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technologist, Audio Visual and Technical Service in School of Computing (SoC).
The Audio-Visual Technologist ("AV Technologist") is part of the SoC AV team to provide AV-related services to SoC users in all SoC premises such as AS6, COM1, COM2, COM3, and i3 level 3. At times, they are also required to provide AV-related services beyond SoC premises for SoC users.
Job Description
- To provide AV-related services to SoC users. SoC AV-related services include, but not limited to the following:
- provide onsite or offsite technical assistance and support for classes or events (seminar, talks, conferences, etc);
- conduct and monitor day-to-day AV operations such as webcast recording;
- conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment;
- setup and removal of AV equipment;
- perform photographing, video recording and editing;
- troubleshoot AV system issues and resolve issues or provide workaround as needed;
- provide instruction and training on the operation of AV equipment to users.
- Create new AV-related services, maintain and update existing AV-related services, and retire obsoleted AV-related services.
- AV systems project management, including starting from design until the installation, setup, testing, and commissioning.
- Maintain AV premises and equipment, e.g.:
- Inspect and maintain premises for AV equipment for damage and cleanliness
- Document issues to be addressed
- Clean and maintain equipment.
- Design, setup, install, modify AV systems, including design, configure and modify user interfaces for AV control panels and/or existing AV systems to meet specific requirements.
- Ensure related system schematics and diagrams are created, updated and maintained.
- Handle inventory management, loans and returns of AV equipment.
- Conduct full procurement process related to AV-related services.
- Work together with other AV team members, attend staff meetings, and participate in training sessions.
- Provide counter duties for AV and general IT support to staff and students.
- Manage and track AV related job ticket/request system.
- Perform shift duty (up to 10pm) on weekdays.
- Prepare to work outside office hours (evenings and weekends) when required.
- Ensure proper documentation of work.
Qualifications
- At least Diploma holders in AV Technology or relevant subject or those with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
- Must be adaptive, pro-active, self-motivated with positive work attitude.
- Able to self-learn, multitask, work independently with minimal supervision, and work collaboratively in teams.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, written and spoken communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage projects, i.e. planning, time management, resource management, conflict resolution skills, and all that pertaining to project management. Passionate about and interest in working with AV-related technologies.
- Passionate about and interest in working with AV-related technologies.
- Possess good knowledge and skills of AV equipment and their control systems, especially those of Extron.
- Certification in Extron Control Professional and Extron Enterprise Technologies would be advantageous.
- Possess good knowledge and skills in handling Windows OS, desktop computers, mobile phone, presentation software, video recording software (e.g. Panopto), online conferencing software (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams), and video streaming software/services; preferably skilled in pre/post-production software and workflows.
- Possess working knowledge and skills in designing and implementing AV systems and services:
- for different types of physical venue, such as classroom, lecture theatre, multi-location audience-participating seminar, active learning classroom, meeting room, and others;
- for virtual environments such as online video conferencing via Zoom, streaming, one-way live recording and broadcasting to Internet; and
- for hybrid.
- Ability to design, setup, modify, and alter AV systems in accordance with system schematics and diagrams.
- Possess some working knowledge in IT networking, Web and security, CODEC-related setup, H.323-related setup, etc
- Employment type: 2 years' contract, subject to renewal
