Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing (SoC). SoC is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights, developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building large-scale experimental systems and improving the well-being of society. We seek to play an active role both internationally and locally in the core and emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

The Research Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator on one or more research projects:

  • Conduct research on large language models (LLMs). This includes developing and evaluating LLM methods (e.g., post-training, reasoning, agents, and benchmarks), designing and running experiments, publishing at top AI venues, and collaborating with students in the group.
  • Help manage the group's research social media. This includes preparing posts to announce the group's papers, models, and demos, maintaining the group's online presence, and tracking engagement and community feedback.
  • Help with funding and award proposals. This includes drafting and editing technical content for grant applications and award nominations, preparing supporting materials, and coordinating with collaborators and admin staff on deadlines and submissions.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Job Requirements

  • A PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong research record on LLMs (e.g., reasoning, agents, or AI for science), with first-author publications in top AI venues such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, or ACL.
  • Strong programming skills and hands-on experience training and evaluating LLMs.
  • Experience presenting and communicating research to a broad audience (e.g., talks, tutorials, technical writing).
  • Experience contributing to research or grant proposals is a plus.
  • Strong systems development skills.
