The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading university centred in Asia. The Faculty of Dentistry is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position and researchers in Oral Sciences, specifically biomedical are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research and service activities, contributing to the advancement of knowledge, research and clinical practice in this specialised field.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- To work under the Direction of the Vice Dean(s), Discipline Director(s), Research Lead(s), and Programme Director(s) with the admin team for educational initiatives and support for the students, assigned academic and administrative services.
- To develop and establish collaborative research proposal to obtain national and international research funding, to lead and establish a strong research team and state-of-the art research facilities.
- To conduct original research, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
- To involve in coursework/research supervision including course planning, develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies to engage students and facilitate learning of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development students in a variety of disciplines.
- To supervise research laboratory work and projects of the students and research staff.
- To provide service to the university such as serving on standing and ad-hoc dental school committees, and outreach programmes.
- To maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in fields of expertise, supporting and promoting educational and research.
Qualifications
- An earned doctoral degree in a relevant field such as dentistry, oral medicine, neuroscience, or related disciplines
- A strong track record of research evidenced by strong publications record and successful grant funding
- Prior teaching experience at the university level, with a commitment to excellence in education and student mentorship
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, students and external stakeholders
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in education, research and/or clinical practice
- Willingness to contribute to the academic community through service activities and professional leadership roles
