Job Description

Reporting to the House Master, this role will oversee the operations of the hostel and residential life in NUS' new hostel, Valour House.

  • Manage Student Admissions, Student Accommodation, Outreach, Corporate Communications & Student Life at the hostel.
  • Assist the Master to work with stakeholders in crisis management cases including response and follow up, advisory to these students and coordinating with Resident Fellows.
  • Research / benchmark of residential life best practices and setting up of SOPs in the hostel
  • Assist students to settle into the hostel through orientation programmes and ongoing residential programmes.
  • Provide student advisory to residential activities and programmes to ensure that operational planning and direction is in line with programme objectives, procedures (e.g. risk assessment, budget proposals), guidance and problem resolution.
  • Assist the Master in the recruitment, selection, placement and performance appraisal of residential student leaders.
  • Manage communal standards enforcement administration in the hostel, outreach to students on compliance and maintaining student disciplinary records in NUS databases.
  • Assist the Master in budgeting and finance admin
  • Liaison person between the hostel and other departments on hardware related issues, fire and safety issues and student matters.
  • Provide timely and effective administrative, logistical and welfare support to the Residential Life Team and students.
  • Manage projects in collaboration with other university offices and residential students groups to enrich the residential experiences of NUS students.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects as and when assigned.

Qualifications

  • A university degree with at least 3 years of managerial and supervisory experience
  • A strong understanding of student life in a residential environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and IT savvy (e.g. social media platforms)
  • Analytical, strong planning and organizational skills
  • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates excellent skills in teamwork, collaboration and attention to details
  • Organized and able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible and nimble to be effective in diverse settings
  • Candidates with experience in student admin, discipline, tertiary education setting and sports background/knowledge will have an advantage
