Job Description

Reporting to the House Master, this role will oversee the operations of the hostel and residential life in NUS' new hostel, Valour House.

  • Assist students to settle into the hostel through orientation programme and outgoing residential programmes.
  • Provide student advisory to residential activities and programmes to ensure that operational planning and direction is in line with programme objectives, procedures (e.g. risk assessment, budget proposals), guidance and problem resolution.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating recruitment, selection, placement, training programmes and performance appraisal of students leaders in the hostel.
  • Assist in communal standards enforcement administration in the hostel, outreach to students on compliance and maintain student records in NUS databases.
  • Manage finance matters (e.g. procurement, reimbursement) including performing various tasks using NUS systems.
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support; draft emails, letters and reports; manage the Master's schedule and arrange meetings.
  • Provide support to hostel's events.
  • Attend to queries in the hostel mailbox.
  • Provide timely and effective administrative, logistical and welfare support to the Residential Life Team and students.
  • Assist in projects in collaboration with other university offices and residential student groups to enrich the residential experiences of NUS students.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects, as and when assigned.

Qualifications

  • A University degree with at least 1 - 2 years of relevant experience
  • A strong understanding of student life in a residential environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and IT savvy (e.g. social media platforms)
  • Vibrant, forward looking and enjoys working with students
  • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates excellent skills in teamwork, collaboration and attention to details
  • Organised and able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Candidates with experience in student admin, discipline, tertiary education setting and sports background/knowledge will have an advantage
