Job Description

The position will assume primary responsibility for the planning and development of fundraising strategies, as well as managing the progress, metrics and relationships that will lead to a successful comprehensive campaign for the National University of Singapore (NUS).

You will be a subject matter expert in university-wide campaign-related initiatives alongside senior staff leading the university's fundraising effort. You will engage with a multitude of key stakeholders, including senior management, deans, faculty, development teams and NUS units.

A highly cross-functional role, the ideal candidate will possess a strategic, metrics-driven mindset, project management skills, curiosity, a can-do attitude, and a team-oriented approach.

The candidate will also oversee the project management of new donor markets and segments. He/she will also partake in campaign development across the University.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic support to the Development Office (DVO) management team in the overall project management and advancement of institutional-wide fundraising campaigns.
  • Establish and monitor fundraising goals, strategies and performance measures, key milestones, and deliverables in project development to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and generate strategic reports and presentations to DVO management, NUS Senior Management, Board Members, and Faculty.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key partners and stakeholders, internally and externally, and cultivate support to drive business success.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Inspire stakeholders to collaborate and pursue the University’s philanthropic goals. 
  • Organise meetings and engagements with internal stakeholders where necessary.
  • Manage and work with external consultants and vendors in driving the various stages of a campaign.
  • Identify and develop new donor segments, markets, and innovative ways of giving.
  • Support in prospect management and tracking of gift pipelines.
  • Develop compelling value propositions to advance the philanthropic needs of the University.
  • Develop and package compelling themes on new fundraising ideas, and create marketing and donor-centric assets.
  • Organize and manage development training workshops for capacity building in Deans, Faculty Champions and development staff across NUS.
  • Support the management at DVO, and undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Perform duties that require significant confidentiality, tact, maturity, and independent judgement.


  • Tertiary level qualifications in Business/Marketing or equivalent.

  • At least 10-12 years’ progressive career track record.

  • Good and proven fundamental knowledge of Project Management.

  • Strong in quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills and is process-driven.

  • Excellent skills in stakeholder management, relationship-building and communication, written and spoken.

  • High comfort level in managing organisational ambiguity and working on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to collaborate, drive motivation across diverse team members and manage difficult conversations.

  • Strategic forward-thinking approach to challenges with outstanding influencing, negotiating and persuasion skills.

  • Identifies the vision of NUS and the mission of DVO.

  • Values philanthropy for higher education and is self-motivated to contribute to community building.

  • Resourceful and team-oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.

  • Passionate, creative and diligent individual with good attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature.
