Job Description

The Office of University Communications (UCO) works to enhance the reputation of the National University of Singapore by raising awareness and understanding of NUS' vision, mission, values, and achievements in education, research and entrepreneurship. We work primarily in the areas of news, marketing and brand, engagement, and crisis communications. Clients include, and are not limited to, academic, research and administrative units.


The job holder will work with colleagues in the UCO, and external offices to enhance the global reputation and profile of NUS Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This cluster includes news, research and initiatives related to Computing, Engineering and Science. He or she will initiate opportunities to publicise discoveries and impact to key stakeholders in the external and internal community.


Duties & Responsibilities

The Office of University Communications welcomes applications from motivated and experienced communications and PR professionals with a strong background in writing and media relations, as well as a strong interest and understanding of science and technology.


The candidate will:

  • Develop and implement strategies to publicise research and educational achievements and announcements relating to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, among other areas of interest.
  • Identify, develop and produce content for various platforms, including the University’s online news portal and social media as well as various news media; Experience in writing news stories preferred
  • Create different types of content to enhance a story, e.g. videos and photographs
  • Manage queries from local and international media


The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and at the same time be a good team player. He or she needs to be mature, proactive, organised, meticulous, able to multi-task as well as work within tight deadlines.


  • Good university degree in mass communication, marketing or related disciplines
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related areas
  • Possess an excellent command of English, with strong editing and writing skills
  • Experience in media relations and strong media contacts preferred
  • Experience and interest in video production and photography will be an advantage
