Specialist Associate (Company Emergency Response Team) (CERT)

Job Description

  • To perform ERT duties as part of NUS CERT
  • To provide quick response to incidents and emergencies when activated via use of fire bike/vehicle
  • To fight incipient fires and handle various types of firefighting and protection equipment such as compressed air foam packs, self-contained breathing apparatus, extinguishers, firefighting hoses, portable pumps, hydrants and risers, fire alarms and FCC operations, etc.
  • To assist in conducting building Fire Safety inspections, fire drills, fire practical trainings, reporting faults of fire alarm systems, carry out checks and coordinate maintenance of CERT equipment and vehicles used by RRT
  • To work with internal stakeholders to rectify any fire safety risks found during daily patrols
  • To work with fire safety system service contractors to mitigate any fire alarm activations
  • Any other duties as per required by OSHE

Qualifications

  • Minimum GCE ‘N’ level
  • Must have relevant fire-fighting experience from SCDF, AES, MPA, etc.
  • Must have minimally Class 2B riding license
  • Must be physically and medically fit to carry out CERT related duties (no colour blindness and hearing defects)
  • Preferably have attended WSQ Respond to Fire & Hazmat Emergency Course or other equivalent fire-fighting/ hazmat trainings.
  • Preferably have knowledge and awareness on containment of HazMat incidents
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Report writing skills
  • Must be able to perform shift work duties including extended shift, weekends and public holidays, possible recall during off duty and rest days due to operational exigencies.
