HR Partner (Senior Executive), Science-based Research Centres

About the Role:

This role will be reporting to the Associate Director who is leading a team of HR Partners that supports a group of Research Centres and Institutes. As HR Partner, you will work with assigned units, including Centre for Quantum Technologies and Global Asia Institute, to provide a proactive and consultative approach in handling a full spectrum of HR functions including performance review, talent acquisition and review, as well as employee engagement and retention.


As a key member for the HR Partnering team, your main commitments are, but not limited to:


• Partnering with the Directors, function heads and line managers to provide advisory on all people-related matters
• Overseeing staff appointment and re-appointment on academic, administration and research schemes
• Facilitating annual performance and compensation reviews for Administration and Research staff
• Providing staff data and analysing HR trends and metrics with the various units, for grant reporting purposes and to manage audit requests
• Handling employee relations issues and disciplinary matters for the units
• Other relevant ad-hoc tasks / projects, as assigned by the reporting manager


• At least 2 years of experience in HR business partnering or an equivalent role, ideally in the higher education or research sector
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Additional HR qualifications or certifications will be advantageous
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate well with people at all levels
• Good command in spoken and written English 
• Resourceful and self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity
• Meticulous and demonstrable experience with HR metrics
• Good knowledge of labour legislation and HR best practices.
