We are looking for a CNC Machinist Technician to join our central workshop in the College of Design and Engineering.

Job Description

•    Perform CNC programming and setting of CNC lathe machines using CAM software.
•    Able to perform 3D and multi-axis machine programming.
•    Check materials and tools required to perform programming.
•    Set parameters (feed rate, speed, etc.) according to materials and tools selection in order to achieve optimum speed.
•    Perform progressive machining operations for precision components / parts.
•    Machine troubleshooting.
•    Perform detailed machining process plan and estimate cycle time.
•    Technical support for daily manufacturing process including design jig and fixtures.
•    Carry out other duties as assigned by the workshop manager.

Qualifications

•    NITEC / Higher NITEC/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in Mechanical / Precision engineering.
•    Preferably 3 to 5 years’ experience in setting up and operating CNC lathe.
•    Experience programming for multi-axis operations.
•    Understand tooling criteria, machining applications and process documentation.
•    Strong knowledge of CAD CAM programming.
•    Conventional machining experience is highly desirable.
•    In depth knowledge of machining processes and fabrication.
•    Knowledge and understanding of raw material specification.
•    Strong knowledge of GD&T and interpreting technical drawings.
•    Self-motivated, highly resourceful and organized individual who is able to work independently.
•    Strong communication and MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word) skills.
