The Regenerative Agritech Centre under the NUS Research Centre on Sustainable Urban Farming (SUrF), is a newly established facility which brings together interdisciplinary experts across NUS in doing translational engineering solutions for the Agritech, Aquatech and the Food Tech Industries. 

 

SUrF’s core research facilities will house state-of-the-art equipment (e.g., 3-D multispectral plant scanner for plant phenotyping, photosynthesis analytical system, hyperspectral imaging for early detection of disease and nutritional content), to support the multidisciplinary projects undertaken by Principal Investigators associated with SUrF and their industrial collaborators.

 

As part of the Regenerative Agritech engineering team, you will operate in a multidisciplinary environment and play a pivotal role in supporting the translation of ideas into sustainable and smart agriculture solutions for diverse stakeholders. Responsibilities:

 

We are looking for mechanical, electrical and computer engineers who will be responsible for technology development and engineering to build a sustainable platform for improving plant performance at both pre-harvest and post-harvest stages, including harvest yield, nutritional profile and safety assurance. Your main commitments are, but not limited to:

 

•    Involvement in various aspects of the development process from planning, design, fabrication, proto-typing, testing, debugging, implementation and maintenance, to deliver high performing vertical farming systems and sustainable outcomes.
•    Ensuring the design considerations include aspects such as manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and safety. 
•    Incorporating new/existing techniques and processes to produce more efficient and effective solutions.
•    Connecting with a broad set of stakeholders both internally and externally to understand key challenges, market movements, as well as opportunities. 
•    Creating conceptual presentations to deliver internal and external trainings.
 

 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering
•    At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience
•    Experienced mechanical, electrical and computer engineers in agricultural and/or food automation (related engineering fields are welcomed to apply) 
•    Familiarity with the major technical systems of an indoor farm (structural, irrigation, lighting, HVAC, nutrients, food safety, monitoring, sensors, etc.) would be an advantage
•    Exposure to state-of-the-art equipment (e.g., 3-D multispectral plant scanner for plant phenotyping, photosynthesis analytical system, hyperspectral imaging for early detection of disease and nutritional content)
•    Able to work independently as well as in teams, and with both internal and external stakeholders
•    Able to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic work environment
•    Self-motivated and results-oriented with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
