Senior Executive (Institutional Relations and Events)

Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing engagement strategies for alumni relations, donor stewardship, organising and running School events, including  alumni engagement events, conferences and workshops, as well as build and develop relationships with a range of institutional partners.


Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence, and juggle various projects at once, while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the School’s mission.


Alumni Engagement
• Develop and implement, in consultation with Head of alumni relations, the School’s alumni relations strategy
• Create and implement strategies for alumni relations, including but not limited to:
- Communication and publicity, including print and online content, targeted at alumni;
- Overview and development alumni section on the School website;
- Support senior leadership and relevant colleagues in undertaking of events and communications to promote good alumni relations
• Develop strong student, alumni, staff and other volunteer networks working with key individuals to support and develop strategies for alumni relations activity and to identify individuals (particularly alumni and others) who may be for fundraising volunteer work and/or donations.


Donor Stewardship
• Work with Head of donor and alumni relations to design, document, and implement a systematic and integrated donor relations programme; sustain and grow the number of annual donors, the size of individual donations, and convert donors to annual and/ or major donors
• Regularly engage and support senior leadership in ongoing development efforts
• Maintain consistent communication with donors to ensure timely acknowledgements and updates through email, newsletters, and annual reports etc.
• Assist with gift processing and necessary paperwork, and gift reports for donor


Institutional Relations
• Work with senior leadership and faculty members to build, cultivate and steward corporate, foundation and government agency relationships
• Assisting in overall development on an as-needed basis


Strategy and Communications
• Support the development of a compelling narrative that resonates with different alumni groups to build strong relationships and maximise giving opportunities
• Craft and design strategic communications, including collateral design and marketing content, to diverse alumni audiences through different media platforms


Events Management
• Lead alumni engagement events by coordinating logistics, catering, RSVPs, attendance, etc.
• Develop, plan, and manage alumni cultivation opportunities
• Provide events management support for conferences, symposia, workshops etc. the School organises


• A recognised Degree
• Self-starter and energetic person with the ability to gracefully manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple projects; exceptional attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and to work as part of a collaborative and highly relational team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a passion for storytelling
• Strong track record of program coordination including budget monitoring and project management
• An entrepreneurial approach to fundraising, finding, and creating new opportunities
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and relevant fundraising techniques, industry best practices and standard operating procedures for fund development and donor
relations as well as alumni engagement
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of associates, including senior leadership, with tact and appropriate gravitas
• Ability and willingness to work long hours or over weekends leading up to events, as appropriate and required
• Optional/desired experience may include: grant writing, event planning, communications, corporate relationships, design using Adobe InDesign and/ or similar software, videography, and volunteer coordination

• Singaporean/SPR candidates are preferred
