Job Description

About the Role


To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our eLearning team as Junior Instructional Designer.


Reporting to the Senior Manager (eLearning) the incumbent shall conceptualise, design, and develop engaging learning materials for both full online and blended learning courses.


This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis; renewal is subject to satisfactory job performance. 

Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus which is subject to incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies. 


The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.


Key Duties & Responsibilities 
•    Collaborate with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design and develop appropriate online and blended learning courseware
•    Conduct needs analysis with SME   
•    Design and develop pedagogically sound online learning objects that include multimedia assets like animated videos, infographics, and other learning resources
•    Design and develop appropriate interactive learning activities to complement online instruction
•    Design and develop appropriate synchronous, asynchronous, or self-directed learning activities to support learning outcomes
•    Create compelling learning content that is accurate, clear, and concise.
•    Produce clear and concise written copies that include content scripts, instructions, and learning resources
•    Develop clear, illustrative, and concise storyboards
•    Design and develop constructively aligned learning assessments
•    Collaborate with production team to develop multimedia assets for learning
•    Perform functional testing of online learning courseware for usability
•    Monitor learning outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of learning objects for continuous improvement to maintain high NUS academic standards
•    Monitor and identify instructional design trends for online and blended learning



•    Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Psychology, Instructional Technology, Mass Communication, or related qualifications
•    Strong writing and visualisation skills
•    Able to juggle multiple priorities and projects
•    Working knowledge of authoring tools such as Captivate, Storyline, Photoshop and Illustrator is advantageous

Experience & Attributes 
•    At least one year working experience in curriculum and instructional design, training practices, or digital content creation; fresh university graduates will be considered
•    Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) is advantageous
•    Good storyteller with strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Driven self-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
•    Results-driven, self-motivated, and highly disciplined
•    Strong team player, with good interpersonal skills
•    Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
•    Resilient, resourceful with good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and ambiguous work environment
