Job Purpose
The Senior Manager/Associate Director for Alumni Relations & Development (ARD) is responsible to lead the ARD team in championing the development and strengthening of alumni relations, and in strategically spearheading fundraising initiatives and stewarding donors and stakeholders for NUS Law.
This role aims to ensure that alumni feel valued and remain engaged with the law school, creating a strong network of support for students and fellow alumni, while also helping NUS Law thrive financially and academically. The AD/SM will work closely with the Dean, faculty members and administrative colleagues to achieve strategic objectives of the Faculty, including developing a vibrant and engaged alumni community, and a strong, supportive group of donors and stakeholders, towards its mission of excellence in legal education and research as Asia’s Global Law School.
Duties and Responsibilities
The areas of responsibility will include the following:
Alumni Relations
• Take charge of the development and strengthening of alumni relations
• Organise alumni activities and events tailored to diverse alumni segments to foster greater alumni-student-faculty interactions (including alumni class reunions and overseas reunions)
• Manage and grow the alumni mentorship programme, working with the Law Careers team, to connect alumni with law students
• Cultivate long-term, meaningful relationships with alumni and students (future alumni) through personalised outreach, recognition efforts, and other initiatives
Development (Fundraising & Stewardship)
• Develop strategies to build a culture of giving among alumni and to spearhead fundraising activities and initiatives
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify new opportunities for support, engagement and partnerships
• Lead and facilitate gift structuring to optimise donor’s gift purpose
• Effective donor cultivation and stewardship by reaching out and managing relationships with donors and prospects, particularly corporate partners and alumni
• Manage all aspects of gift stewardship, including but not limited to ensuring proper use, acknowledgement and reporting
• Organise events and initiatives to engage potential and existing donors
Other Responsibilities
• Work with Communications team on the production of faculty publications
• Leverage the NUS Law website, social media platforms and other digital communication tools to build connections, and to keep alumni, donors and stakeholders informed about alumni and fundraising news, events and initiatives
• Serve as Secretariat for NUS Law Advisory Council
• Work with other administrative teams in the University and the Faculty of Law on cross-functional and shared duties
• Perform any other duties as assigned
Requirements
Candidates should:
• Possess between 6-15 years working experience
• Be a dynamic and strategic thinker, with an outgoing personality and disposition
• Possess excellent relationship-building and communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders
• Preferably an alumnus/alumna of NUS Law, with an interest in establishing strong connections with alumni, donors and other stakeholders. Alternatively, proven fundraising experience and track record, relevant skills and management expertise, preferably in a higher education sector, will be an advantage
• Have administrative and personnel management experience with well-developed planning and organisational skills
• Strong professional presence as well as a collegial work style that promotes teamwork, creativity and open communication
