The incumbent will contribute to a holistic residential and student-life experience for LKYSPP students, including wellbeing, community-building and case management. The primary responsibilities will be on Bukit Timah Campus (BTC) and College Green (CG). He or she is not expected to live on campus.
(A) BTC Student Life
- Provide a holistic, postgraduate-centric student life experience that supports wellbeing and community belonging.
- Act as first point of contact for students seeking help with wellbeing, academic stress, faculty/peer conflicts, accommodation issues, or personal concerns.
- Provide early intervention for at-risk students based on referrals from faulty/staff while safeguarding privacy and consent.
- Coordinate referrals to counselling, health services, disability support and external agencies as appropriate.
- Adjudicate low-level conduct cases for students as part of the LKYSPP mediation team.
- Curate an annual student life calendar.
(B) CG Residential Life
- Promote a respectful, inclusive culture for diverse student population.
- Be knowledgeable of the Code of Student Conduct, Sexual Misconduct Policy, housing regulations, and academic integrity policies; educate students about behavior, document incidents when they arise, mentor and support affected students.
- Support the Residential Advisor during crises and serve on the CG crisis team.
- Assign rooms in CG in consultation with the relevant stakeholders.
- Manage incident logs, case notes, and post-incident reviews; implement corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
- Provide regular CG report to Vice Dean, Academic Affairs.
- Lead CG orientation for new students.
- Coordinate the hiring of Resident Assistants.
- Manage and provide guidance to the Resident Assistants, together with the Resident Advisor.
(C) Administration
- Attend and participate in regular administrative meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the relevant NUS units.
- Seek regular training and professional development in consultation with the supervisor and in line with LKYSPP’s strategic plan and priorities.
- Attend regular first aid and first-responder training and implement as necessary.
- Assist other administrative units within LKYSPP on an ad hoc basis when necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant degrees include student development, higher education administration, social work, counseling or similar. However, candidates who hold other degrees but believe they meet the experience/aptitude/attitude qualities are welcome to apply.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to speak in basic Mandarin would be an advantage. This is so that the incumbent can engage and support students enrolled in the MPAM programme that is conducted in Chinese.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Experience in community building, social work/case management of students in an academic setting, para-counselling of adults, or willingness to receive training in these areas.
- Ability to connect well with students, inspire confidence and provide strong mentorship and support.
- Familiarity with residential life.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and comfortable with multi-national, multi-ethnic, and other forms of diversity.
- Basic familiarity with student development and needs, including managing anxiety and stress, self-awareness, etc.
- Experience with managing disputes, mediation, conflict resolution, and educating students who may have violated rules or regulations.
