Job Purpose

The Associate Director (Fund Raising & Donor Relations) is responsible for the planning and implementation of programmes to raise funds for the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). He/She will develop and/or identify projects that IPS can raise funds through.  The Associate Director takes charge of reaching out to donors to secure commitments from them to provide new/additional donations.

He/She will also be required to manage IPS' Corporate Associate Programme, build further value into the programme and increase the membership. 
 

Job Description

  1. Collaborate closely with the IPS Director, Deputy Director (Admin), Associate Director (Public Affairs) and NUS Development Office (DVO) in increasing support from donors; routinely identify and qualify prospective donors for donations.
  2. Increase the current number of Corporate Associates.
  3. Fundraise through select special projects/events and solicits gifts from major donors as appropriate.
  4. Establish and conduct a comprehensive donors/Corporate Associates recognition programme to strengthen existing donors/Corporate Associates commitment to the Institute and forge new relationships to build visibility, impact and financial resources.
  5. Oversight of the donors / Corporate Associates  “thank you” process, preparation of stewardship and endowment reports, consultation on donors recognition opportunities.
  6. Manage all communication/correspondence to donors/Corporate Associates. Prepare all donor(s)’ stewardship reports to those providing endowed funds or whose gifts are for specific purposes that require outcome reports.
  7. Provide direction, manage planning and execution of donors/Corporate Associates events (e.g., donors recognition receptions, luncheons, dinners, dedication ceremonies).  This may require coordination of invitations, speakers, food/drink, guest lists, etc. with internal and external parties.
  8. Oversee donors/Corporate Associates records and data; provide statistical analysis to IPS Director, Deputy Director (Admin) & Associate Director (Public Affairs) in relation to donors/Corporate Associates information.
     

Qualifications

  1. At least a Bachelor degree.
  2. Substantial administrative experience in a major institution – preferably a tertiary institution.
  3. Some experience or familiarity with policy issues of relevance to the work of IPS.
  4. Capacity to write clearly and edit the writings of others.
  5. Be a good team player.
  6. Be a reliable worker.
  7. Meticulous attention to detail, exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communications skills.
  8. Excellent command of English, other Asian languages would be an advantage. 
  9. Leadership qualities and ability to manage projects and supervise staff.
  10. Strong organizational and project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  11. Good knowledge of MS office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
