About the Role

 

To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our Lifelong Learning (L3) Data Stewardship Team as a Data Manager.

 

Reporting to the Vice-Dean (L3 Data Stewardship), the successful candidate shall be responsible for operational-level L3 data management activities to ensure the quality and accessibility of L3 data. The incumbent will need to collaborate with various stakeholders in the university to develop data-orientated systems to meet L3 business and data needs. 

 

This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis in the first instance, with the prospect of a regular open employment contract thereafter subject to satisfactory job performance during the first 3 years. 

 

Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with an annual variable bonus which is subject to the incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies.

 

The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.

 


Key Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Develop and maintain data catalogues and data dictionaries to document the metadata, lineage, quality, and usage of L3 data.
•    Work with stakeholders from different parts of the university to gather and assess business and data needs for L3 initiatives in order to improve work efficiency through digitalisation.
•    Establish processes to make sure L3 data follows data governance policies and standards, such as data retention and archival guidelines, data protection and privacy regulations, and data quality and integrity rules.
•    Support the System Owner of L3 applications in performing data-related tasks in accordance with IT governance framework and standards.

Requirements:

 

Academic & Professional Certification
•    Degree in statistics, engineering, computing, or related fields.
•    At least 3 years of relevant experience in data management, data engineering, data analysis or data governance.
•    Strong oral and written English language proficiency is essential.

 

Experience & Attributes 
•    Strong knowledge of data cataloguing, data dictionary, and data governance principles and best practices.
•    Excellent ability to assimilate information quickly. The ability to understand how to use data and technology to support the evolving needs lifelong education administration is essential.
•    Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with data platforms and tools, such as Power BI is advantageous.
•    Ability to take the initiative and adapt.
•    Results-driven, self-motivated, highly disciplined and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•    Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to build a community.
