The School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE) was established to drive the expansion of NUS’ lifelong learning offerings in a concerted and strategic way that furthers our mission to be a leading global university, as well as fulfil our role as a public university of Singapore, shaping the future.

Drawing on unparalleled access to the multi-disciplinary expertise of 16 other NUS Faculties/Schools, SCALE offers youth, executive, and professional development/education programmes, part-time and full-time degree programmes, as well as modular courses that may be taken singly or stacked towards certificates/diplomas/degrees that meet the lifelong learning needs of individuals. All programmes are designed and developed in consultation with the industry to ensure relevance and currency.
About the Role
To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our Academic Programmes Office (APO).
Reporting to the Head (Graduate & Special Programmes), the incumbent plays a vital role in supporting the development, delivery, and growth of our academic programmes while serving as a key facilitator in the implementation of University rules, policies and processes for Graduate by Coursework programmes, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all of our stakeholders.
This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis in the first instance, with the prospect of a regular open employment contract thereafter subject to satisfactory job performance during the first 3 years.
Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with an annual variable bonus subject to the incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies.
The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As part of the APO team, the incumbent will be responsible for managing key aspects of our academic programmes, spanning undergraduate and graduate levels, within a collaborative team environment.
Champion Programme Excellence
• Contribute to the development and launch of new academic programmes, from ideation to implementation.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, NUS community, and industry partners, to enhance programme offerings.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote programmes.
• Oversee programme operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage programme finances, including fee reviews for programmes, and revenue models.
• Manage internal and external communications for the APO, ensuring clear and effective messaging.
Empower Student Success
• Manage student applications and admissions, providing a seamless and positive onboarding experience.
• Support programme delivery, including staffing, class scheduling, course registration, and examinations.
• Provide comprehensive support to students, addressing their academic and administrative needs.
• Connect students with valuable resources and support networks to enhance their academic journey.
Cultivate Strategic Partnerships
• Build and nurture relationships with industry partners to create mutually beneficial collaborations.
• Facilitate industry projects and internships, providing students with real-world experience.
• Organize alumni events and engagement initiatives to foster a strong and supportive community.
Drive Continuous Improvements
• Analyse data and generate insightful reports to inform decision-making.
• Streamline processes and systems to optimize efficiency and enhance the stakeholder experience.
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects that support the School’s growth.
Subject Matter Expert
• Ensure University rules, policies and processes related to Graduate by Coursework programmes are clearly communicated to the appropriate programme administrators.
• Monitor compliance with University policies related to Graduate by Coursework programmes.
Requirements:
Academic & Professional Certification
• At least a good bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a reputable university
• Strong English language proficiency is essential
• IT savvy and proficient in MS Office applications
Experience & Attributes
• Relevant work experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
• Energetic and skilled people manager, able to lead and rally a team towards achieving common objectives in a fast-paced, results-oriented and ambiguous work environment.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Results-driven, self-motivated and highly disciplined.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills; flexible in adapting public speaking/presentation styles to an audience of diverse background and culture.
