The School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE) was established to drive the expansion of NUS’ lifelong learning offerings in a concerted and strategic way that furthers our mission to be a leading global university, as well as fulfil our role as a public university of Singapore, shaping the future.

Drawing on unparalleled access to the multi-disciplinary expertise of 16 other NUS Faculties/Schools, SCALE offers youth, executive and professional development/education programmes, part-time and full-time degree programmes, as well as modular courses that may be taken singly or stacked towards certificates/diplomas/degrees that meet the lifelong learning needs of individuals.  All programmes are designed and developed in consultation with the industry to ensure relevance and currency.

 

About the Role

 

To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our Industry Engagement Unit.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director (Enterprise Partnership), the incumbent shall focus on outreach to the corporate client market to promote training and education options offered by the University.

 

This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis in the first instance, with the prospect of a regular open employment contract thereafter, subject to satisfactory job performance over the first 3 years. 

 

Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with an annual variable bonus which is subject to the incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies. 

 

The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

•    Develop innovative strategies to expand and diversify the corporate client base across public and private sectors, aligning with institutional objectives.
•    Drive corporate lead generation through proactive business development initiatives, including networking events, industry forums, and targeted outreach.
•    Lead the creation, presentation, and delivery of tailored proposals to prospective corporate clients, ensuring alignment with their needs and objectives.
•    Actively convert leads and inquiries into confirmed training engagements, with a focus on securing repeat business through strong relationship management.
•    Forge and formalize partnership agreements with corporate clients, ensuring they align with national and institutional goals, and support long-term collaboration.
•    Negotiate, finalize, and manage training contracts with both new and existing corporate clients, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
•    Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate clients, fostering long-term professional relationships to ensure service excellence and client satisfaction.
•    Organize and participate in client-centric events and activities, enhancing the institution’s visibility and client engagement.
•    Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of training courses and projects, ensuring alignment with clients’ expectations and institutional standards.
•    Partner with various NUS CET units to explore new opportunities in the CET market, advising on strategic business development initiatives.
•    Collaborate with NUS CET units to assist in the customization and development of curricula that meet corporate clients’ needs.
•    Work closely with the Marketing team to develop and refine corporate marketing tools and strategies that support business growth.
•    Conduct thorough industry research and analyze competitor activities to inform and adjust business development strategies.
•    Maintain meticulous records, prepare detailed reports for senior management, and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support administrative tasks, ensuring seamless communication and process efficiency.
•    Oversee course administration, including scheduling, logistics, and post-training evaluation, ensuring adherence to policies and statutory requirements.

Requirements

 

Academic & Professional Certification
•    At least a good bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a reputable university.
•    Strong English language proficiency is essential.
•    IT savvy and proficient in MS Office applications.


Experience & Attributes
•    At least 8 years’ relevant work experience, with at least the last 4 years in a similar capacity.
•    Highly client conversant, analytical and meticulous.
•    Strong business development, project management and administration skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills; flexible in adapting public speaking/presentation styles to audience of diverse background and culture.
•    Confident to engage staff members and with external stakeholders at all levels.
•    Strong team player, able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
•    Independent, resilient, resourceful and with good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
•    Energetic and self-motivated, results-driven and disciplined.
•    Thrives in a fast- paced, results-oriented and ambiguous work environment.
