Job Description
The Faculty of Science (FoS) Corporate Communications team is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Multimedia Designer to join us. The ideal candidate brings a strong visual sensibility, a flair for storytelling and a meticulous attention to detail, with hands-on experience across the full design process from concept to final deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Content creation: Execute design and production across multiple platforms including print, websites, social media, infographics, graphics, corporate presentations and other marketing assets.
- Brand stewardship: Ensure all creative outputs adhere to NUS and FoS brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency across all channels.
- Content adaptation: Adapt and optimise multimedia content for various platforms and audience needs.
- Campaign conceptualisation: Develop creative concepts, storyboards and art direction for campaigns.
- Asset management: Organise, manage and archive assets, project files and content libraries using a content management system.
- Best practices: Research and stay updated on industry trends to apply fresh, innovative approaches to projects.
Secondary Responsibilities:
You will work with the team across other areas, including but not limited to events management, digital marketing and stakeholder engagement to support outreach efforts.
Qualifications/Requirements/Other Info
Must Have
- Diploma/Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline, supported by a strong portfolio (to be submitted with your application).
- At least two years of relevant experience or an agency background. Those with no experience but possess a strong portfolio in social media content and graphic design are welcome to apply.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Express, InDesign).
- Experience in managing content posting across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Knowledge and practical use of AI tools for asset generation and workflow optimisation.
- Problem-solving (ability to overcome design challenges and deliver creative solutions); time management (ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines); attention to detail; adaptability to evolving project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work beyond regular office hours to support productions and events when required.
Nice to Have
Any combination of the following is an advantage.
- Experience in science communication is a definite advantage.
- Experience in translating technical content into short-form content for laymen.
- Experience in photo and video capture and editing for events, social reels and short-form video content.
- Basic understanding of WordPress, HTML, CSS and UI/UX principles.
- Experience in motion graphics or animation (e.g. Adobe After Effects or equivalent).
- Experience liaising with external vendors or student helpers, including briefing and reviewing deliverables.
Employment Notes
- The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
- The incumbent will be placed on a fixed term contract of two years (renewable).
