Job Description

The Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions (CNCS) at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant (Continuing Education & Training). Continuing Education and Training (CET) provides crucial post-secondary and professional training and education to upskill different stakeholders across sectors. We provide holistic training for a diverse group of partner groups to develop competencies and capabilities, and better embed sustainability in their respective workstreams and domains.

 

The Research Assistant will also be responsible to support the Centre in ensuring the timely delivery of CET with/for national, regional and/or international clients. You will support the Programme Coordinator in terms of programme management activities, from the design, development and delivery of high-quality CET programmes to providing administrative and logistical arrangements from start to end of each programme. The position is expected to begin in May or soon thereafter. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with the possibility of renewal.

 

Responsibilities

• Play a critical role in CET Programme development on programme content, instructional design, managing instructors and participants
• Execute or provide expertise and support to business development strategy and activities for sales of CNCS CET Programmes with a focus on demand generation, lead nurturing and client conversion
• Represent the Centre at events and establish relationships with key stakeholders for potential collaborations
• Support coordination of activities and the delivery of programmes, management of transactions and communications with external clients and vendors 
• Point-of-contact with instructors, vendors and participants for the smooth running of programmes.
• Work with administrative and finance team in facilitating teaching approval and payments and to coordinate to prepare and file necessary documents for submission on time to the relevant funding bodies e.g. SkillsFuture Singapore
• Work jointly with other Centre researchers, executive and admin staff to learn and share about the Centre’s research and activities in order to best position the Centre, to increase its standing and seek out more collaboration opportunities
• Perform other tasks and duties as necessary

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or wider training in a sustainability, social sciences or business/economics/finance related discipline
• Industry-relevant connections, with a network of potential clients, collaborators and other relevant stakeholders in the climate change and sustainability space (e.g. research/academic institutions and tool providers)
• Fluent English is a must
• Fluency in any of the ASEAN languages is a plus

 

Experience

• More than 2 years’ professional experience in helping a company or organization grow, identifying new prospects and converting leads into customers or partners
• Demonstrable commercial skills and good business sense so as to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
• Proven ability to build and maintain senior executive relationships, influencing senior executives’ agendas and supporting critical strategic decisions
