Job Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research Assistant to join an ongoing research project focused on plant-microbe-environment interactions. The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary and collaborative team, contributing to significant scientific investigations in this dynamic field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experimental Setup and Execution:
- Conduct plant cultivation experiments and ensure proper maintenance of planting materials.
- Assist in the planning and execution of experimental protocols.
- Sample Preparation and Analysis:
- Prepare samples for analysis, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Troubleshoot experimental issues as they arise.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Evaluate and analyze experimental results.
- Document findings meticulously and discuss project outcomes with the research team.
Qualities and Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- A degree in Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field, with a specialization in plant-related disciplines.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in plant cultivation and agriculture is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with environmental and plant-associated microbes is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Microbiology or relevant field
- Proficient with basic Microsoft Suite, R software. Experience with bioinformatics software will be advantageous
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English
- The ideal applicant should also possess strong organizational and communication skills to work well as part of a team.
- Prior experience with microbiology, molecular lab work, plant cultivation, or DIY work will be considered.
