Job Description

The Faculty of Science (FoS) is looking for a creative and versatile Multimedia Designer with web experience to join us.

The ideal candidate brings a strong visual sensibility, a flair for storytelling and meticulous attention to detail, with hands-on experience across graphic design, multimedia production and web design. The candidate should be comfortable translating communications and outreach briefs into compelling visual assets and digital experiences, including designing and developing campaign microsites.

In addition to creative production, the candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the website, including working with appointed vendors on website maintenance, security and technical matters. This is primarily a design and frontend website role and does not require the incumbent to perform the full responsibilities of a backend web developer or system administrator.

Primary Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Graphic and Multimedia Design

  • Content creation: Conceptualise and execute design and production across multiple platforms, including print, websites, social media, infographics, graphics, corporate presentations and other marketing assets.
  • Brand stewardship: Ensure creative and digital outputs adhere to NUS and FoS brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency across channels.
  • Content adaptation: Adapt and optimise multimedia content for different platforms, formats and audience needs.
  • Campaign conceptualisation: Develop creative concepts, visual directions, storyboards and digital experiences for campaigns and outreach initiatives.
  • Asset management: Organise, manage and archive creative assets, project files and content libraries using appropriate content management systems.

Web Design and Frontend Development

  • Microsite development: Design, build, deploy and update campaign microsites using mainly WordPress and other approved web tools, balancing visual design, usability, responsiveness and accessibility.
  • Web design: Translate campaign briefs / requirements into effective page structures, user journeys, interfaces and responsive digital experiences.
  • Frontend implementation: Apply HTML and CSS, and where appropriate basic JavaScript or other frontend techniques, to customise layouts and functionality beyond standard CMS components.
  • Web content management: Create, update and maintain webpages, forms, media and other digital content across FoS web properties.
  • Digital optimisation: Apply appropriate practices for web accessibility, basic SEO, image optimisation and cross-device compatibility.

Website Coordination and Vendor Management

  • Vendor and IT liaison: Coordinate with appointed web maintenance vendors and NUS IT on technical issues, security vulnerabilities, maintenance activities and website requirements.
  • Issue coordination: Perform initial assessment of website issues, resolve frontend matters where appropriate, and escalate technical or backend issues to the relevant vendor or NUS IT for resolution.
  • Testing and governance: Review and validate vendor-implemented updates and fixes, and maintain relevant website documentation to support security, compliance and continuity.

Secondary Responsibilities

You will work with the team across other areas, including but not limited to events management, digital marketing and stakeholder engagement, to support outreach and communications efforts.
