Job Description

The position of Cloud System Administrator is immediately available in the Genome and Data Analytics Core (GeDaC) at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI) -- a part of the National University of Singapore. The CSI GeDaC is building a cloud-based platform to facilitate the storage, processing, and analysis of a variety of large datasets relevant to cancer research (e.g. genome sequencing, medical imaging, graphs, etc.). Successful candidates, working closely with bioinformaticians and cloud engineers, will monitor, manage, and onboard CSI staff onto this platform. This position provides a unique opportunity to work with researchers, engineers, oncologists, and industry partners to impact both cancer research and patients.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and serve as point-of-contact for CSI’s cloud infrastructure
  • Help CSI laboratories and core facilities to migrate and manage data within AWS
  • Ensure institute cloud solutions are compliant with University and government regulations
  • Manage cloud access and security (accounts, firewall, VPC, etc.)
  • Assist with database design, implementation, and management
  • Monitor AWS expenditures and optimize spending
  • Help staff utilize analytical solutions built by GeDaC’s Scaling and Bioinformatics Units

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (minimally) in computer science, information systems, bioinformatics, engineering, mathematics, or related fields
  • 2+ years of system administration experience, preferably on the cloud
  • Proficiency with Unix-based systems
  • Database management experience (SQL, NoSQL, Elasticsearch, etc.)
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Excellent written and spoken English

 

PREFERENCES

  • Familiarity with healthcare data management and compliance
  • Experience with collaborative software development via github/gitlab
  • Amazon Web Services cloud certifications
  • Experience with on-prem to cloud data migrations
