About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment

Job Description

A 1-year postdoctoral research fellow position on the topic of quantum error correction is available in the group of Associate Professor Hui Khoon Ng at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore.

The project focus is on assessing and optimising error correction protocols on noisy hardware devices. This would include simulating quantum error correction in the presence of hardware-relevant noise and optimising error correction protocols in hardware-aware contexts. Potential hardware systems of relevance include neutral atoms, superconducting qubits, and/or ion-trap qubits. Stabilizer simulations will be the key tool, and we will expand on the recent work within the group on simulating general noise within the stabilizer formalism.

The group of HK Ng works on bridging the gap between quantum error correction and hardware realities. It is housed in the CQT campus within the National University of Singapore.

The research fellow can expect to help with the mentoring of students in the group.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a strong track record in carrying out independent research in quantum computing related projects. A PhD in a quantum science field is required. Prior experience with stabilizer simulations and/or quantum error correction would be strong plus points.
