The Centre for Advanced 2D Materials (CA2DM) is seeking a Research Assistant to support engagement initiatives, entrepreneurship advisory, and external partnerships through research, coordination, and reporting. Some key responsibilities include conducting industry and enterprise research to support personalized career planning and skill development, assisting in entrepreneurship consultations and startup ecosystem analysis, and supporting the coordination of stakeholder events and strategic collaborations. The role also involves preparing monthly progress reports that detail key responsibilities, accomplishments, and ongoing tasks to ensure accountability and alignment with CA2DM’s strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Employment Research & Support - Assist in delivering high-quality employment support through:

• Conducting research to support personalized career planning
• Mapping and analysing global enterprise resources
• Supporting initiatives that enhance employment skills
• Performing industry analysis and summarising trends
• Coordinating and documenting executive interview
• Tracking and evaluating career development outcomes
  
  

Marketing Advisory Liaison - Provide research, strategic, and logistical support for local and overseas industry engagement startup ecosystem analysis, and marketing initiatives, including:

• Conducting data collection, benchmarking, and analysis on startup ecosystems, incubation models, and industry best practices
• Assisting in the design and execution of marketing and branding strategies
• Preparing marketing materials, presentations, case studies, and success stories to enhance visibility and stakeholder engagement (local and overseas collaborators and business partners)
• Coordinating digital content creation (social media, newsletters, website updates) and tracking outreach effectiveness
• Conducting competitor and market analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for ecosystem growth and marketing efforts
• Providing logistical, communication, and event support for consultations, workshops, and networking sessions with investors and partners

Prepare and submit monthly progress reports detailing:

• Key responsibilities (categorized and numbered 1 & 2 as entailed above)
• Notable accomplishments
• Ongoing tasks. Reports serve to ensure accountability, monitor progress milestones, and offer insights for ongoing improvement and strategic alignment riding on the previous month.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Communications, or a related field
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in research, entrepreneurship development, business consulting, or marketing/communications
• Experience in supporting incubators, accelerators, or startup-related initiatives is an advantage
• Up-to-date digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and social media management
• Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-functional coordination
• Strong business experience in engaging with Chinese investors will be an advantage
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights
• Proficiency in report writing and presentations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders (entrepreneurs, investors, corporate partners)
• Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and track multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Ability to design and support marketing campaigns, create content, and manage outreach channels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is an added advantage
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to prepare professional materials in both language
• Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Creative and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation, and ecosystem development
