Job Description

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading multi-disciplinary institute devoted to developing new paradigms for understanding biological functions in health and diseases from the perspective of cell, tissue and organ mechanics/dynamics and mechano-signal transduction. The institute operates on a fully integrated open-lab philosophy, with an extensive infrastructure supported by core facilities dedicated to technology such as state-of-the-art light microscopy, nano- and micro- fabrication, and computing.

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to join the Collective Cell Dynamics lab (https://sites.google.com/view/hirashima-group/home) at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS as a Research Assistant. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an interdisciplinary research project focused on fundamental biophysical mechanisms in mammalian development and reproduction.

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in mouse handling, breeding, and experimentation, as well as fundamental knowledge and skills in molecular and cell biology. The successful applicant will support general laboratory operations, including both technical tasks and administrative duties related to risk assessment and safety compliance. They may also lead projects involving mouse experiments, such as intravital and whole-organ imaging using cutting-edge technologies, depending on interest and aptitude.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct experiments involving mouse breeding, handling, and tissue collection

- Perform standard molecular and cell biology experiments

- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes

- Assist in lab management duties, including safety documentation and inventory

- Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive lab environment

Qualifications

- B.Sc. in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline

- At least 1 year of research experience in a laboratory setting (e.g., FYP, UROPS, or RA position).

- Prior experience in mouse handling and/or microscopy

- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team

MBI may apply additional selection criteria in line with prevailing recruitment policies, which may be subject to change without prior notice.
