Job Description

The Policy Researcher supports the Engineering and Policy function within SNRSI by conducting and coordinating research related to nuclear energy development in any of the following areas: policy, regulatory, strategic foresight, or social science. The role contributes to interdisciplinary studies, policy analysis, horizon scanning, and stakeholder-focused research to support evidence-based policy and infrastructure decision-making. Key Responsibilities

 

  • Policy and Regulatory Research
  • Conduct research and analysis on nuclear governance, regulatory frameworks, safety, fuel cycle, waste management, and emerging nuclear technologies.
  • Review and synthesise international developments, best practices, and policy approaches relevant to Singapore.
  • Support development of policy papers, research reports, briefing materials, and presentations.

 

  • Horizon Scanning and Strategic Analysis
  • Monitor global and regional developments in nuclear energy, safety, regulation, fuel cycle and public acceptance.
  • Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and assess implications for Singapore.
  • Contribute to scenario planning and strategic foresight studies.

 

  • Public Risk Perception and Stakeholder Research
  • Support design and implementation of public perception, stakeholder, and social science research projects.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative findings and translate them into policy-relevant insights.
  • Contribute to research supporting public communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.

 

  • Research Coordination and Knowledge Management
  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans across policy, technical, economic, environmental, and societal domains.
  • Coordinate research activities with internal teams and external partners.
  • Maintain databases of research findings and policy developments.

 

The successful candidate may be appointed as a Research Associate or Research Fellow, commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Energy Studies, International Relations, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in nuclear policy research, strategic analysis, regulatory studies, energy policy, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
