Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated research assistant/associate with strong academic grounding in Chemistry or Geochemistry to support our research in the radiochemistry team. The successful candidate will assist with laboratory experiments, sample preparation, and analytical measurements, contributing to ongoing research projects in environmental sciences, nuclear chemistry, and geochemical applications. This role provides hands-on experience with state-of-the-art instrumentation and methodologies in a collaborative academic research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory experiments in radiochemistry, geochemistry, and analytical chemistry under the supervision of senior researchers.
  • Prepare, process, and analyse environmental or geological samples for radioisotope content using techniques such as:
    • ICP-MS/MS, gamma spectroscopy, alpha/beta counting, liquid scintillation counting.
  • Maintain laboratory records, ensure accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results.
  • Assist in data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of research reports and publications.
  • Uphold laboratory safety standards, including radiation safety, chemical safety, and waste management.
  • Support ordering, inventory management, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and consumables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Radiochemistry, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of analytical techniques relevant to radiochemistry (e.g., ICP-MS, alpha/beta counting, gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation counting).
  • Experience in method development and wet chemistry techniques are preferred
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards, especially radiation protection principles.
  • Experience in data analysis and scientific reporting
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team
  • Advance skills in C ++ , Python and/or VBA Excel
  • Prior experience in isotope geochemistry laboratories
