Research Assistant
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable full-time Research Assistant to assist Prof Brenda Yeoh, on various migration and/or sustainability projects (see https://ari.nus.edu.sg/clusters/migration-mobilities/projects/ for more information). You will be based at the Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, and will also have the chance to work with an international team of migration scholars in the institute.
The successful candidate will be involved in primary and secondary data collection, literature review, writing and editing reports, publications and materials, administrative work as well as assist with organising workshops and seminars. The candidate will also assist on a new project on “Low-carbon communities and their futuring practices in Singapore”.
Job Description
The candidate should possess the following:
- Good administrative, organisational and team-building skills, and an aptitude for working in a Southeast Asian context;
- Strong library research skills;
- Excellent command of spoken and written English, and the ability to write for a variety of audiences;
- Strong ability to perform editing work on manuscripts;
- A willingness to play a co-ordinating role in liaising with different research members in the cluster/projects.
The terms and conditions for the position are as follows:
- An all-inclusive and fixed salary which will commensurate with qualification and relevant working experience;
- Pro-rated holiday leave of up to 28 days per calendar year;
- Medical benefits entitlement.
Job Requirements
You should have the minimum of a Bachelors or equivalent in the Social Sciences (particularly Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science or Global Studies). Your research interests should fall within a relevant area of the social sciences (e.g. migration studies in the Southeast Asian region, climate change and/or sustainability).
