Job Description
he Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk (IPUR) is a university-level research institute at the National University of Singapore. IPUR has been contracted by the United Nations Executive Office of the Secretary General as the academic partner for the second edition of the ‘UN Global Risk Report’, which will be published in 2026. This follows the successful delivery of the inaugural UN Global Risk Report (UNGRR) for which IPUR was also appointed survey partner.
IPUR’s responsibilities for the 2026 UNGRR include design of the survey, data cleaning, data analysis and the preparation of a Sense-making Report.
A Research Assistant/Associate is required to manage the project, contribute to and ensure the delivery of high-quality outputs, to coordinate between the NUS team members and ensure smooth and continuous liaison with the UN and other external partners on content and administrative matters.
This is a 12-month onsite position in Singapore.
- Preparation of and timely submission of project reports, summaries and slide decks
- Survey data analysis, visualisation, write-up of analysis and results
- Coordination of inputs from the IPUR team and research partners
- Coordination/ liaison with external project partners; preparation for, organisation and follow-up of weekly project meetings
- Tracking and reporting on project progress
- Outreach and communications related to the UNGRR
- Organisation of UNGRR-related events
- Additional support to the IPUR team leaders as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in relevant subject (economics, business, political science, psychology, humanities etc.).
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Highly proficient in professional writing, preparation of reports and slide decks
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Quantitative analytical skills and data visualisation skills preferred
- Relevant professional experience preferred (project management, consulting)
Candidates should be available to take up the position soon after 1 Jan 2026.
