Research Fellow, Acoustic Research Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute
The Acoustic Research Laboratory (ARL) undertakes research projects in the area of underwater acoustics and marine robotics. The Research Fellow will work across several projects to help develop, implement & test algorithms for acoustic signal processing, machine learning and/or computer vision. In addition to algorithmic work, the Research Fellow is expected to work with engineers to develop systems to test the algorithms, help plan & conduct field trials, collate & organize data, process the data using the algorithms, write up the results in the form of internal & external reports as well as publications & patents.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in signal processing / machine learning / computer vision
- Experience with underwater acoustics / marine robotics is desirable
- Experience with practical machine learning (scientific machine learning or physics-informed machine learning preferred)
- Strong scientific programming skills (experience with Julia or Python programming languages preferred)
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Interest in practical implementation & field work (at sea)
