Job Description
Cancer Science Institute of Singapore is looking for a Research Fellow who will contribute to translational cancer research and will be responsible for designing and executing preclinical experiments using animal models to evaluate treatment efficacy, pharmacodynamics, and biomarker development for personalized medicine in cancer.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Research:
- Design and conduct in vivo studies to evaluate novel therapeutic agents and treatment combinations in cancer models.
- Manage and maintain mouse xenograft models (including PDX and cell-line derived models).
- Perform drug administration, tumor measurement, sample collection (blood, tumor, organs), and necropsy procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IACUC regulations and ethical standards for animal research
Biomarker and Therapeutic Evaluation:
- Collaborate on projects investigating predictive blood-based biomarkers for cancer recurrence and response to targeted therapies.
- Analyze tumor response, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of candidate compounds.
Molecular and Genetic Studies:
- Support studies on genetic variants affecting drug metabolism, particularly those relevant to Asian populations.
- Work with bioinformatics and clinical collaborators to interpret translational relevance of findings.
Publication and Grant Support:
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results for publications and scientific conferences.
- Assist in manuscript preparation and grant proposal writing.
Lab Management:
- Maintain animal and laboratory records, inventory, and experimental protocols.
- Mentor junior researchers and students where applicable.
Qualifications
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, or related fields.
- Strong hands-on experience with animal models of cancer, particularly mouse xenograft models.
- Proficient in in vivo techniques: oral gavage, intravenous and intraperitoneal injections, blood/tissue sampling, and tumor measurements.
- Experience with drug efficacy studies, pharmacokinetics, or biomarker validation.
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry) is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based research environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with cancer research or tumor microenvironment studies.
- Experience with IACUC protocols and ethical handling of laboratory animals.
