Job Description

The Research Fellow will join a translational cancer research program focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying haematological malignancies, including multiple myeloma (MM), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTL). The successful candidate will contribute to projects utilizing genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and functional studies to identify novel disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.

Duties & Responsibilities

Research

  • Design and execute independent research projects in haematological malignancies.
  • Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments using patient samples and disease models.
  • Analyze and interpret genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and other high-throughput datasets.
  • Investigate molecular mechanisms involved in disease pathogenesis, progression, and therapeutic resistance.
  • Validate novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets through in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Contribute to translational research efforts bridging laboratory discoveries to clinical applications.

Data Analysis & Scientific Communication

  • Conduct bioinformatics and statistical analyses of large-scale omics datasets.
  • Prepare research reports, manuscripts, grant applications, and scientific presentations.
  • Present findings at laboratory meetings, conferences, and scientific workshops.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Laboratory & Collaborative Activities

  • Maintain accurate experimental records and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols.
  • Assist in the management of research resources, including tissue bank samples and clinical databases.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, scientists, bioinformaticians, and external research partners.
  • Mentor junior researchers, graduate students, and laboratory staff where appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Experience in genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptomics, proteomics, or bioinformatics analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish scientific findings.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in haematological malignancies, cancer genomics, or translational cancer research.
  • Experience working with patient-derived samples and preclinical disease models.
  • Knowledge of computational biology, systems biology, or multi-omics data integration.
  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
